We regularly work with global client teams on specialised projects. Here we were tasked with both the writing and design of all of the book’s content.
Pulling together a compilation of author generated chapters from a variety of IsDB partner institutions needed an experienced agency team on board. We ensured the book had a consistent read, look and feel and as an existing and respected IsDB communications partner, we were well-positioned to oversee all facets of production.
Blackwood’s Editor developed editorial guidelines to assist the contributing authors with their draft submissions, reviewed each submission and provided editing and writing expertise where appropriate. This resulted in the creation of a cohesive and professional editorial tone that ensured an accessible reading experience for the wider international audience.
The editorial work took place remotely from the UK and face-to-face during a five-day IsDB/Blackwood organised writing workshop in Istanbul, Turkey. Working onsite during the workshop the Editor was joined by Blackwood’s Creative Director. The IsDB gave us a fairly open brief in terms of the book’s design style which allowed us to work fluidly while shaping the content but always in line with IsDB’s aims and expectations.
As a team, we are used to managing large multi-language publications from conception to print and our finalised concept works perfectly across the three core IsDB languages of English, Arabic and French.
Working in partnership with the IsDB on the Writing Workshop in Istanbul was a real highlight for Blackwood. Our creative thinking, accessible approach and hard graft has resulted in the hugely successful book launch.
A book that successfully promotes the significant role that agriculture and rural development plays in the economies of most developing countries, it has been distributed globally throughout the IsDB business regions as well as to IsDB partners and key stakeholders.
